I have just purchased some Estée Lauder Pleasure for my mother’s Christmas present, and have therefore decided to review it.
It is a Bright and Colourful fragrance, like a small flower. With scents of woods, flowers and citrus. Fresh and subtle.
Top Notes - Citrus, Fresh, With Hints of Lemon and Bergamot.
Middle Notes - Wet Grass, Pine Woods, Cedar
Base Notes - Dark and Musky.Deep, warm spiced and sensual.
Recommended? Most Definitely! It is also extremely long-lasting!

Many perfume lovers actually get stuck when it comes to understanding the descriptions which are found both on paper and on the web about perfumes. Well, this needn’t be, as understanding perfume descriptions is an easy task. A basic description incorporates three features:
- The Top Notes - sometimes known as the head notes, are the first fragrances you smell after just applying the perfume. This is because they evaporate the quickest thanks to heat from the skin. For this reason they are very important in the initial impression of a perfume, therefore important when selling.
- The Middle Notes - sometimes known as the heart notes, are the scents noticed when the top notes have disappeared. These also act to mask the unpleasant initial impression of the base notes, which becomes more pleasant with time. Middle notes are the main body and scent of a perfume.
- The Base Notes - the base notes, along with the middle notes, make the main scent of a perfume. These are not smelled until about 30 minutes after application. They are usually dark scents, with lots of depth.
By carefully sniffing your favourite perfume on skin from the time of application onwards, you will notice the gradual change in scent, and be able to describe it like a professional reviewer.
The alignment of the three notes of a perfume can also be displayed in a Perfume Pyramid:

This can clearly show (with the various scents and stages added) the attributes of a perfume, and can give the keen sniffer a relatively good idea of the perfume’s scent before it has even been smelt!

We currently live in an age largely dominated by fashion and lifestyle. These are in turn largely dominated by celebrities. Celebrities are, well, dominated by nothing or no one.
So naturally, we want to look like celebrities. We want to wear like celebrities, speak like celebrities, act like celebrities, etc.
But what about SMELL?
Believe it or not, I do find that it is a factor of celebrity-appeal that is hardly ever mentioned when it could be. Of course, in the past, perfumes were always appreciated according to just how good they smelt, how attractive they were, and how generally up-market they appeared. It has, however, now become something of a custom for the younger generations to follow perfumes which do not bear the name of their perfumer - but bear the name of a celebrity. Examples of celebs who have released perfumes include Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez, and of course, David and Victoria Beckham.
In fact, sales of celebrity perfumes have gone up 2′000 percent since 2004, confirming that we are currently in an age of celebrity perfume popularity.

Pop Diva Christina Aguilera released her new perfume called ‘Inspire’ on september 1st 2008.
Aguilera, in association with Proctor & Gamble Prestige Products, was seen showing off her new fragrance. Apparently, it contains notes usually found in perfumes for men, as Aguilera did used to like wearing her husband’s perfume.

Author and perfume critic of the New York Times, Chandler Burr is all set to host a perfume dinner on October 23, 2008 at Natalie’s at Camden Harbour Inn. Natalie’s chef de cuisine, Lawrence Clang has been working with Chandler Burr to create the special menu for the dinner.
The owner of the Camden Harbour Inn, Raymond Brunyanszki said that they are extremely proud that Chandler Burr approached them for the perfume dinner and claimed that the dinner is sure to be filled with surprises. Burr’s new book “The Perfect Scent: A Year Inside the Perfume Industry in Paris & New York” published in January 2008 contain two parallel stories – first about a year that Burr spent for the New York Magazine in Paris and the second about a year inside Coty with Sarah Jessica Parker as she directed the making of her perfume “Lovely.”
Natalie’s Inn is a classic European style inn atop a stunning hillside offering views of picturesque Camden Harbour, Mount Battle and Penobscot Bay.

Clive Christian is not a perfume brand which is know in every household. It is not a perfume brand which is common, or well known. But it is significant for one thing: it produces the most expensive perfume in the World.
Clive Christian “Imperial Majesty”, is sold in bottles of 16.9 ounces, adorned with a gold collar, and holding a beautiful five-carat diamond. Yes, thats a good diamond.
I dread to think about buying the empty bottle - let alone the actual perfume in it!
However, it’s not something you can just waltz into Selfridges and buy, regardless of it’s cost. Only five bottles are manufactured anually, making it the most rare perfume in commercial production.
So the final question: how much is it?
Well, at only $215′000 USD a bottle, it’s quite affordable if you are the Duke of Atlantis. Apart from that, it is something to be marvelled at, more than desired.
